FIFTEEN new Magistrates and six new Area Court Judges today joined the Kwara State Judiciary, after they were sworn in by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Durosinlohun Sulyman Kawu.
In a ceremony which took place at the High Court of Justice Complex, Ilorin, the chief judge disclosed that the appointment of the new judicial officers was approved by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in other to fill gaps created in the lower bench of the state due to recent retirement of magistrates and area court judges.
The chief judge, who warned the new judicial officers to desist and distance themselves from anything touching on corruption which manifests itself in the form of bribery, graft, nepotism, favoritism among others, said that anyone found guilty would be dismissed from service and prosecuted in court.
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the newly sworn in judicial officers, Abubakar Buro said that they were prepared to serve as visionary and purposeful officers and abide by the constitution, code of conduct and law.
Some of the new Magistrates sworn in today include: Magistrates Shittu, Hauwa Buhari, Mariam Dasuki, Jumoke Bello, Kikelomo Abu, Abubakar Buro, amongst others.
