FOURTEEN of the 16 APC candidates for the Nov. 18 council polls in Kwara emerged through consensus, an official said on Sunday in Ilorin.
The APC Publicity Secretary in Kwara, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, made this known at a news conference.
Buhari said that the 14 candidates emerged during the party’s primary election held in the 16 local government areas of the state on Saturday.
He said that APC candidates for Offa and Baruten local government areas did not emerge by consensus but voting as consensus arrangement failed.
Buhari said that the party’s councillorship candidates for the 193 wards in the state also emerged through consensus.
According to him, the party’s leadership had advised aspirants to consider a consensus arrangement.
“The party is pleased to note that most council areas embraced the consensus option,” he told journalists.
The spokesman expressed the party’s readiness to participate in the elections.
“With the successful completion of the primary election, APC wishes to announce its readiness to contest and win all available seats in the forthcoming council elections.
“The party has released names of the successful chairmanship candidates with their respective local government areas,’’ he said.
