Meet the New Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal

HONOURABLE Justice Mohammed Ola Abdulkadir was on Wednesday, 1st of March, 2017 sworn-in by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed as the new Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal following the confirmation of his appointment by the State House of Assembly. Justice Abdulkadir is the sixth substantive Grand Kadi of the Kwara Shariah Court of Appeal and replaced Retired Justice Salihu Olohuntoyin Mohammed.

Justice Mohammed Ola Abdulkadir was born on the 15th day of February, 1957 in the ancient city of Ilorin, Ilorin West Local Government to be precise. He started his early education at Darul-Uloom Arabic Studies and Islamic School, Ilorin in 1968 before proceeding to School for Arabic Studies, Kano where he obtained Higher Islamic Certificate in 1979.

Abdulkadir also attended the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria between 1979 and 1985 where he obtained a Diploma in Sharia and Civil Law and later bagged LLB (Islamic Law). He thereafter proceeded to the Nigerian Law School (NLS), Abuja in 1999.

He started his working career at Darul-Uloom School as an Arabic class teacher between 1973 and 1975. He later joined the Kwara State Civil Service as a judicial officer. In 1982, Honourable Justice Mohammed Abdulkadir was appointed Assistant Registrar of the Kwara State Judiciary and rose through the ranks to become the chief Registrar, Sharia Court of Appeal, Ilorin in April 2008. Owing to his hardwork and dedication to duty, he was elevated as Kadi of the Court 0n 26, July 2010.

Mohammed Ola Abdulkadir has attended various conferences and workshops both within and outside the country. He is married and blessed with children.
