New Nasarawa Varsity Chancellor Promises High Academic Standards

DR Shehu Chindo-Yamusa 111, the new Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has promised to promote high academic standards to make the institution one of the best nationwide.

Chindo-Yamusa 111, who is also the Emir of Keffi, made the pledge on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

However, the chancellor noted that the institution has already set high standard but needed to be maintained and improved upon.

“In ensuring setting of high standard in the institution, priority would be given to manpower development, research and infrastructural development so as to create an enable learning environment.

“We would continue to develop the university and build on the good records of achievements by the current Vice Chancellor (VC) of the institution, Prof. Akaro Mainoma.

“I will not fail the people of the state in my new assignment as I will make sure that we will make the institution a world class standard,’’ he said.

He also assured members of the public that by the time they would conclude their tenure, the institution would be ranked among the best universities in the country.

He said that priority would be given to the provision of quality learning and teaching environment for effective teaching and learning to take place.

According to him, “provision of conducive atmosphere for both teachers and students will uplift the educational standard of the school’’.

He explained that education being the life wire for speedy development of any nation would be given the required attention in the institution for the nation to move forward.

The first class traditional ruler enjoined people of the state and Nigerians to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
