THE Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Saturday in Ilorin, distributed food items worth millions of naira to the Children of Reception Centre, Ilorin and Rehabilitation centre, Amoyo.
Mrs Hadiza Bala-Usman, the Managing Director of NPA, said the gesture was in line with social responsibility of the present management of the authority to reach out to vulnerable children in the society.
She reiterated the commitment of the management of NPA in sustaining the gesture.
The managing director called on well meaning Nigerians and good spirited individuals to cultivate the act of giving out to the needy.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that items donated to the two Homes were; 25 bags of beans, 25 bags of Semovita, 25 of sugar, salt and baby diapers each.
The authority also donated 25 gallons of ground-nut oil and bathing soaps each to the two Homes, among other others.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Dr Ayinke Saka, the Kwara Commissioner for Women Affairs, commended the management of the NPA for the gesture describing the presentation of the items as timely.
